Rowing Rises to No. 17 In CRCA Poll

by Franki Noble

ORLANDO- Following a successful weekend in Sarasota, the UCF rowing team climbed eight spots to No. 17 in the Pocock CRCA Poll.

Entering the top-20, this week’s poll marks the highest the team has been ranked as a crew, as well as notching the most points in program history at 943.

The Knights continue their outstanding three-week long streak of being the only Big 12 crew to be nationally ranked.

The ranking follows a successful weekend at Nathan Benderson Park as the Black and Gold swept the Sarasota 2K to win the Benderson Cup. All boats crossed the finish line first in heats and in Grand Finals, securing gold for all who competed. The Knights defeated the only other ranked opponent in this week’s poll, No. 20 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, at the weekend’s events.

The Knights will face-off against three ranked crews at their next regatta, the Rocky Top Invite. They will once again face No. 20 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, as well as racing against No. 5 University of Tennessee, Knoxville and No. 14 Duke University for the first time this season.
