TUCSON, Ariz. – After clinching the first two games of its weekend series with the No. 4 Arizona Wildcats, the UCF softball team fell in its series finale, 10-1, at Hillenbrand Stadium Sunday.

Despite the loss in the squad’s Sunday matinee, the Knights (19-8-1, 2-1 Big 12) still bring home the highest-ranked series win in program history, having toppled the fourth-ranked Wildcats 9-3 and 5-4 in the first two games of the weekend.

The Wildcats pounced early in Sunday’s finale, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning and six more in the home half of the second.

UCF’s offensive production was spearheaded by sophomore third baseman Sierra Humphreys in the top of the third, as the Corona, California native lined her second home run of the season over the right field fence to break up the Wildcats’ shutout bid.

The long ball marked UCF’s sixth of the series, joining home runs by Beth Damon, Ashleigh Griffin and Stormy Kotzelnick in Friday’s opener and two more by Griffin and Aubrey Evans in Saturday’s one-run win.

Humphreys also notched her second straight multi-hit effort in the contest, with UCF’s two other hits coming courtesy of Izzy Mertes and Madison Simon.
