Rowing Remains at No. 25 in CRCA Poll

by Franki Noble

ORLANDO - The UCF rowing team maintained their spot at No. 25 in the Pocock CRCA Poll for the second week in a row announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Knights continue to be the only team in the Big 12 to secure a spot in the top 25. The crew notched 244 points for the week.

The Black and Gold earn this recognition ahead of a big weekend at the Sarasota 2K. They will compete against two other ranked opponents at Nathan Benderson Park, No. 18 University of Alabama and No. 19 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

While this crew continues their streak of being the only team to be ranked in program history, it is not the first time UCF has gotten national recognition in the CRCA polls. In 2006, the Varsity Eight sat at No. 19 for three weeks as well as No. 20 for one week. In 2007, the Varsity Eight reached as high as No. 9 for two weeks. During this era of racing, only top boats from teams were ranked. It wasn't until 2010, that teams as a whole were ranked on the CRCA polls.

The Knights will look to continue their spring slate this weekend at the Sarasota 2K on March 28 and 29.
