ORLANDO - In line with a series of dominating performances to open conference play, the No. 17 UCF women’s tennis team defeated No. 40 Kansas, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.

While falling down early after dropping the doubles point, the Knights (14-1, 6-0) were empathic in their response, taking five first sets in singles play to overcome the Jayhawks (9-7, 3-3). The win keeps the Black and Gold undefeated in the Big 12 and in sole possession of the top spot.

In doubles, Hannah Rylatt and Olivia Lincer’s three-match win streak came to an end as they fell on court one, 6-3. Sophia Biolay and Aya El Aouni leveled the point with their sixth-consecutive triumph on court two, 6-4. However, the Jayhawks found the winner shortly after on three.

Apart from Jade Psonka on court four, each Knight jumped out to early leads via strong first-set displays. Olivia Bergler doubled the advantage with her second win on the jump, completing her perfect weekend on court five against Kansas’s Meriem Ben Ezzedine, 6-2, 6-2.

Her fellow Polish native continued her undefeated season (9-0) with a decisive straight-set triumph on court one as Lincer defeated Gracie Mulville, 6-2, 6-4. On court three, Biolay tallied her 11th-consecutive win, adding to her team-leading 12-1 record in 2025 after defeating Kyoka Kubo, 6-3, 6-3.

The clincher came from her doubles partner on court two, as Aya El Aouni took her contest with Maria Titova, 6-1, 6-4. Rylatt was two games away from taking court six, while Jade Psonka was striving to push her court-four duel to a third set.

UCF’s seven-match win streak is the most since an eight-game stretch in 2022 preceded the Knights’ run to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

UP NEXT

A short two-match road swing awaits as the Knights will look to retain their lead atop the Big 12 as they travel to Colorado before a meeting with No. 14 Texas Tech.
