AUGUSTA, Ga.- The UCF women’s golf team completed rounds one and two of the Valspar Invitational Saturday afternoon in second place. The Knights recorded a team score of 585, going seven over par to secure their spot in second.
ROUND 1
The Black and Gold carded 14 birdies in the first round of the Valspar Invitational to score only two over par with a team score of 290. The solid opening round earned the Knights the top spot on the team leaderboard, to begin the second round of play.
Molly Smith was at the forefront of the effort with a score of 71, going one under par to tie for fourth. Smith earned three birdies in her first round on the green.
Mila Jurine, who recorded five first-round birdies, was the next Knight on the leaderboard with an individual score of 72, ending the first round even and tied for seventh.
Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham was the third UCF player to earn a top ten spot on the player leaderboard, tying for ninth and recording a first-round score of 73, one-over-par.
Jamie Camero logged three birdies of her own earning a two-over-par score of 74 to tie for 13th.
Katie Poots ended the round tied in 53rd with an individual score of 79, seven over par.
Competing as an individual, One Kashima went four over par to record a score of 76 and tied for 26th place on the player leaderboard.
ROUND 2
The Knights earned a second-round score of 295, going five over par to drop one slot on the leaderboard into second.
Smith finished the day tied for third place with an overall score of 143, one-under par. The sophomore authored an additional five birdies registering a second-round score even with par at 72.
Sisutham earned another top-five spot for UCF with an overall score of 145, one-over-par, tying for fifth. She recorded a score of 72 in the second, ending the round even with four birdies.
Jurine registered a five-over-par second-round score of 77, dropping into a tie for 16th overall with a score of 149, five over par.
Camero completed round two four-over par at 76. The freshman is tied for 18th on the leaderboard ending six over par with an overall score of 150.
Poots ended round two with a score of 75, going three over par to move up to a tie for 31st place. Poots now has an overall score of 154, 10 over par.
Individual Kashima tallied two birdies in the second round earning a score of 76 to go four-over-par, and ended the day with an overall score of 152, eight over-par, and tied in 27th.
