ORLANDO- The UCF rowing team will open up its season on Friday at a home dual on Lake Pickett against Jacksonville.
The current racing schedule has the III Four starting the regatta at 3:45 p.m. The I Eight will follow 15 minutes later at 4 p.m. The II Eight will compete at 4:15 p.m., followed by the I Four at 4:30 p.m. The regatta will finish up with the II Four competing at 4:45 p.m. and the III Eight at 5:00 p.m.
The Dolphins are coming off of their third consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. This marks the eighth conference title for the program. The crew has completed five races on the season so far. Their fall slate included the First Coast Regatta, Row Across Florida and Head of the Florida. Prior to taking on the Knights, the Dolphins have completed two duels against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Villanova.
The Friday dual will mark the sixth time the two squads have competed against each other. It is the fifth consecutive year of duals between the two crews. The last matchup between the Knights and the Dolphins featured a six-race sweep for the Black and Gold, with all boats finishing first against Jacksonville and UConn.
The UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center will be open to the public for race day. The boathouse opens at 3 p.m. for a 3:45 p.m. start time.
