ORLANDO - Four Knights have been featured in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association individual rankings of the year, announced Wednesday afternoon.
During the 20th-ranked UCF women’s tennis squad’s hot start, the team has been propelled by dominating play on the front three courts. Freshman Aya El Aouni, who was tabbed one of the best newcomers in the fall has made her season debut at 87th in the nation.
The Morocco native is 4-0 thus far with wins on courts one and two, headlined by a triumph over FIU’s 52nd-ranked Oyinlomo Quadre in straight sets. Joining her is senior Sophia Biolay who remains among the NCAA’s best, slotting in at 102nd, boasting a 3-1 record to start the season.
UCF is one of four Big 12 Conference programs to display multiple players in the singles rankings. In doubles, Olivia Lincer and Hannah Rylatt remain among the mix as they landed at 88th.
Head coach Bryan Koniecko and his squad will make the short journey west this Sunday to face South Florida at noon.
