ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. - The UCF men’s golf team concluded play in the Sea Best Invitational Tuesday afternoon with its best round of the tournament, as the Knights were six over par as a team to wrap up competition at the Atlantic Beach Country Club.
UCF finished tied for nine with an 879 team score (+27), while Texas A&M won the event with an 826 (-26) and FGCU was second with an 833 (-19).
Lucas Dutartre led the Knights in the third round with a three-under-par 68, one of his best rounds of the season. He was two under on the back nine and four under for the day through 15 holes before a bogey on hole No. 7 to end his day three strokes under par. Dutartre finished the Sea Best Invitational with a six-over-par 219 to tie for 42nd on the player leaderboard.
Hans Risvaer carded a 73 (+2) in Tuesday's final round to end the event tied for 38th with a five-over-par 218, the best finish for a UCF golfer. Starting on the back nine, he birdied four of his first seven before running into a little trouble on the front nine to push his score over par for the day. Risvaer finished the day strong with a birdie and four pars in his last five holes.
One stroke behind with a seven-over-par 220 was UCF’s Chase Haygood. He fired a 73 (+2) Tuesday, headlined by a birdie on No. 17 and No. 5. Clemente Silva had a tough final day of action in Atlantic Beach, carding a 79 to end the first tournament of the spring with a 225 (+12).
Gustav Andersson shot a 76 (+5) in the third round, ending the tournament with a 227 (+14). Marc Keller competed as an individual and had his best round of the invitational with a 75 (+4) on Tuesday. Keller finished with a 229 (+16).
UCF returns to action next weekend at the Vystar Credit Union Gator Invitational hosted by Florida at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Play is slated to get underway on Saturday, Feb. 15 and conclude on Sunday, Feb. 16.
