KNIGHT NOTES

  • The Knights are a perfect 3-0 against Oklahoma State as they make their second visit to Stillwater in program history. UCF’s first win against a Big 12 Conference school came against the Cowboys in a ballroom at the Baha Mar for an in-season tournament. The Knights erased a 17-point deficit to beat the Cowboys 60-56 in overtime in the semifinals of the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship on Nov. 18, 2022. UCF is 2-0 against Oklahoma State as a member of the league, beating the Cowboys 77-71 in Stillwater before topping them again 77-62 in the first round of the 2024 Big 12 Championship.
  • In Dawkins’ previous eight seasons at the helm of the Black and Gold, the Knights averaged 68.9 points per game with the best clip in points per game sitting at 72.3 back in 2018-19, the last time UCF made the NCAA Tournament. This season, the offense has errupted, averaging 78.4 points per contest with 13 games of 80 or more points this season (50 total in JD era).
  • Keyshawn Hall currently leads the Big 12 in scoring in conference games, averaging 21.1 PPG in league play. He’s shooting 50.7% from the field and 40% from deep over the last five games, along with averaging 20.6 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 1.8 APG. Hall has eight 20+ point showings in Big 12 play, including two 34+ point performances. His four-straight game streak with 20+ points was snapped at Baylor with 19 points. The four straight games with 20 points prior to that were 26 vs. TCU (Jan. 25), 34 at #11 Kansas (Jan. 28), 20 vs. BYU (Feb. 1) and 23 vs. Cincinnati (Feb. 5).
  • Freshman Moustapha Thiam has been making a big impact on both ends of the floor in his rookie season, scoring double-digit points in 12 games while swatting aside five or more blocks in five contests, including two in Big 12 play and most recently sending away five shots at Colorado. The rookie is pacing nicely with UCF legend Fall who posted 70 blocks in his rookie season, a Knights freshman record. Through 25 contests of the 2015-16 season, Fall had 54 blocks while Thiam sits at 57, despite missing two games due to injury or illness, participating in 23 games thus far. Thiam boasts five games with five or more blocks while Fall had three his entire rookie season. Taylor Hendricks, UCF’s first lottery and first round pick in program history, had 59 in 2022-23, the second most by a UCF rookie. Hendricks had 44 blocks through 25 games.

THE MATCHUP

  • The Knights look for their fourth win in as many meetings against Oklahoma State. UCF got the better of Oklahoma State twice last season, once in the regular season and again at the Big 12 Conference Championship. The Black and Gold will face the Cowboys once more this season, hosting them for senior night on March 5.
