ORLANDO – Senior right-hander Kaitlyn Felton spearheaded the efforts of an overall dominant first weekend by the UCF softball team’s pitching staff, and on Tuesday was recognized for her efforts.

The Valrico, Florida, native garnered the first Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week selection of the 2025 spring campaign, representing her first such recognition in the Big 12 and the second pitcher of the week award of her career. She joins former teammate and current Knights graduate assistant Sarah Willis as the second Knights pitcher to earn the award in the Big 12 as well.

Felton spun 10.2 scoreless innings spanning three appearances during the weekend Black & Gold Classic, highlighted by her first seven-inning complete game and first save of the season.

She made her 2025 debut in UCF’s Thursday nightcap against the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs, retiring two of the three hitters she faced, including her first strikeout of the spring.

Her second appearance saw her clinch her first save of the year on the strength of three innings of one-hit ball against NC State, adding two more strikeouts, and on Sunday went the distance against the Illinois Fighting Illini, fanning six while yielding just three hits in seven innings of work. She did not issue a single walk in any of her three appearances.

Her Sunday showing marked the second seven-inning shutout of her career, joining her one-hit masterpiece against FAU April 17, 2024, as well as her sixth career appearance that saw her throw at least seven innings.

Entering play Tuesday, Felton is also one of just three pitchers in the Big 12 Conference with an even 0.00 ERA, joining Utah’s Brooklyn Carreon and BYU’s Kasen Korth.
