LUBBOCK, Texas - In the first of exciting three days of the UCF Track and Field team at the Stan Scott Invite, hosted at Texas's Tech's Sports Performance Center, senior Natalia Madison authored a brilliant display in her first pentathlon of the season.
The South Florida native commenced action with a personal-best 8.73 in the 60m hurdles to lead the field. In the field events, Madison shinned, placing first in the high jump (1.70m), second in the shot put (11.88m) and first in the long jump (5.75).
Already second in the program record books, Madison became the second Knight in school history to surpass 3,800 points after her personal-best 2:36.05 in the 800m.
In her first pentathlon under first-year head coach Brody Honeycutt, she finished the day with an impressive 3,868 points, good enough for second place and the most among collegiate competitors.
The Knights will gear up for the first full day of competition tomorrow as sprinting and jumping events take center stage.
