Men's Tennis Claims Fourth Seed at Big 12 Championships

by Alex Clough

ORLANDO – Following a historic regular season, the UCF men’s tennis has been named the fourth seed for the Big 12 Conference Championships this weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Led by a 3-1 homestand and a dominating win at Baylor in March, the Knights outperformed their preseason outlook, as the squad was tabbed six in a coach’s poll before the campaign.

Led by first-year head coach Lloyd Bruce-Burgess, UCF tallied four triumphs in conference play, including a win against its first-round opponent and hosts, five-seeded Oklahoma State.

The quarterfinal bout is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, with the winner slated to play either No. 1 Texas or No. 8 BYU on Saturday at the same time.

All eight Big 12 programs will make the journey to the Greenwood Tennis Center. Texas, Oklahoma and TCU secured the top three seeds, while the Knights lead the field as the highest newcomer and fourth-highest ranked team (No. 30).
