MEDINAH, Ill. – The UCF women’s golf team got off to a slow start at the Illini Women’s Invitational scoring a 286 (-2) in the first round but quickly turned it around for the next 18 holes with a 274 (-14) to jump five spots in the team leaderboard.
The Knights are currently in third place following 36 holes of play on Monday at Medinah Country Club. UCF is just four strokes behind Big 12 conference foe Houston who is in first place.
Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham leads the Black and Gold tied for second place with a 36-hole score of 135 (-9). She recorded her best performance of the day in the second round, carding a seven-under-par 65. She tallied two eagles on the day, which leads the tournament.
Molly Smith finished the day just four strokes behind Sisutham with a 139 (-5). The Massachusetts native turned in a 70 (-2) in round one and a 69 (-3) in the second round to tie for 11th place.
Mila Jurine rounded out the day tied for 13th place with a 140 (-4). The freshman stayed consistent throughout 36 holes carding a 70 (-2) in both rounds.
One Kashima got off to a rough start by carding a 76 (+4) in the first round but quickly rebounded in the second round with a 70 (-2) to jump 16 spots in the player leaderboard, T41.
Katie Poots ended the day in T76, tallying a 153 (+9).
Competing as an individual, Jamie Camero, recorded a 72 (E) in the first round followed by a 70 (-2) to end the day, tied for 21st place.
The Knights round out the Illini Women’s Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 7 with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
