Women's Golf in Second Place Following Day One at Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UCF women’s golf team ended the first day of the Merecedes-Benz Intercollegiate in second place after carding a three-over 287 at Cherokee Country Club.


The Knights are one shot behind leaders Miami and Middle Tennessee (+2) with three UCF golfers in the top 10. 


Jamie Camero and Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham each carded a 70 (-1) in the first round of play. As a freshman, Camero posted three birdies in her first under-par performance donning the Black and Gold. The duo is tied for second place and Sisutham leads the field in pars with 15. 


Molly Smith finished the day with a 71 (E) to tie for seventh place. The sophomore tallied three birdies on the day. 


One Kashima and Mila Jurine each recorded a 76 (+5) to tie for 39th place. 


Competing as an individual, Katie Poots carded a 72 (+1) to be tied for 15th place.

UCF will tee off in the second round of the tournament Monday at 9:30 a.m. and are paired with Tennessee and Miami (FL).
