ORLANDO – Breaking new ground in a collaboration between UCF student media and the UCF Athletics Association, the Nicholson School of Communication and Media is set to provide a unique opportunity for its students to provide pregame coverage for Saturday evening’s UCF football game against the visiting Sam Houston Bearkats.
Current UCF students will produce a 30-minute pregame show in union with UCF production prior to kickoff, airing live on ESPN+. The show will provide students a real-world chance to take the reins in live sports broadcasting, with the show hosted and staffed in the control room by students. Former Knights running back Adrian Killins will provide complementary coverage on the pregame show as well.
The show is projected to cover a range of relevant topics, including a rundown of the Black and Gold’s season-opening 57-3 victory over New Hampshire Aug. 29, a pre-recorded interview with head coach Gus Malzahn, a feature on the Knights’ efforts to recognize and provide support for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and a look at UCF’s Saturday evening contest against the Bearkats.
The show will be shot in the northwest corner of the field within FBC Mortgage Stadium near the DJ setup, with a conclusion time set for approximately 6:28 p.m.
The collaboration represents just the first between UCFAA and the university’s student media, as there is hope to bring the show back for future UCF sports events.
The underlying goal for the collaboration is to develop the union between the two entities in a way that includes students in real-world jobs and opportunities to further bolster their resume reels.
