ORLANDO – The UCF women’s cross country team has announced its 2024 schedule, a season that will mark its second as a member of the Big 12 Conference.
This year represents assistant coach Bryan Harmon’s second season leading the distance squad with the Knights.
Eight new Knights will join an accomplished squad this fall, led by an experienced group of six juniors accompanied by a pair of sophomores.
The Knights will kick off their season at home Aug. 30 with the UCF Cross Country Invitational. After an absence in 2023, the program’s premier home meet will return to campus. In 2022, Isabella Richardson led the way with a second-place finish and a time of 20:38.9.
UCF will travel to Tallahassee, Florida, Sept. 27 for FSU Pre-Regionals, followed by the Oct. 11 FSU Invite. The trip will mark the Black and Gold’s first appearance in Tallahassee since the 2019-20 season, as the Knights will compete against some of the top athletes in the nation.
The Knights will have their first away meet Oct. 18 in Peoria, Illinois, where they will compete in the Bradley Pink Classic. The squad will then embark on its first of two postseason meets when it returns to Baylor for the Big 12 Championship Nov. 2, having recently traveled to Waco, Texas, for the outdoor championship this past May during the track and field season.
Following the Black and Gold’s second Big 12 Championships appearance, the Knights will return to Tallahassee for the NCAA South Regional Championships. The 2024 slate will represent the third consecutive season that the Knights will participate in multiple competitions outside Florida.
