After landing a pair of talented transfers in the last two months, UCF men’s golf has opened the month of July by adding another. Head coach Bryce Wallor announced Wednesday the signing of Lucas Dutartre, a two-time All-Summit League selection and former Summit League Newcomer of the Year.
“Lucas is the right fit to finish off our 2024-2025 recruiting class,” said Wallor. “He brings a wealth of collegiate experience, as well as success on the international level in amateur golf. Lucas was the Summit League Newcomer of the Year, and he participated in back-to-back NCAA Regionals, while competing in every event while at UMKC with a two-year scoring average of 72.42. He finished second in the Belgian International Amateur Championship and most recently, Lucas finished in the top 10 at the Scottish Men’s Open Championship.”
In two seasons at UMKC, Dutartre helped lead the Roos to consecutive Summit League Championships and NCAA Regional Appearances. He turned in a stellar 2023-24 season, earning Second Team All-Summit League honors with a 71.84 stroke average over 32 rounds. He logged four top-10 finishes, highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes and tallied 16 rounds of par or better.
Dutartre was at his best when it mattered the most for his team, recording a season-low seven-under-par 209 to tie for third at the conference championship. With his strong showing, UMKC compiled an overall team score of 833 (-31), which was a Summit League record for lowest score in a 54-hole championship event and tied for the third-lowest 54-hole team score in program history.
A native of Paris, France, Dutartre’s best round of the 2023-24 season was at the Golfweek Intercollegiate with a 66 (-6) in the opening round of the event en route to a sixth-place finish in the tournament.
Following a strong freshman season in Kansas City, Dutartre was tabbed the Summit League Newcomer of the Year after recording a 73.0 stroke average, the second best on the team. He notched a team-best three top-10 finishes and 13 rounds of par or better. His best round of the year came in the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, as he fired a 68 (-4) in the second round of the event.
Dutartre has twice been named the Summit League Peak Performer, claiming the honor in 2024 after a third-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational with a three-round score of 207 (-6) and in 2023 following a seventh-place finish at the Lake Las Vegas Invite with a four-under-par 212.
At the Belgian International Amateur Championship, Dutartre fired rounds of 65, 74, 71 and 69 to conclude the event at nine-under and tie for second place.
He will be a junior for the Knights in the fall and have two years of eligibility remaining.
Dutarte joins fellow transfers Felix Schrott, Clemente Silva and high school signee Palmer Haynes to compose the 2024-25 signing class.
