ORLANDO – The UCF baseball team has been honored as a 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award recipient, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Wednesday.
UCF was one of over 470 collegiate programs across all levels to earn the award. The Knights were honored after achieving their best in-season GPA in program history, recording a 3.31.
To be named an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award recipient, a team must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the 2023-24 academic year or higher and have the head coach be a member of the ABCA.
The Black and Gold were just as excellent on the diamond as they were in the classroom. UCF earned its first trip to NCAA regional play for the first trip to an NCAA Regional since 2017 under the direction of first-year head coach Rich Wallace, posting a 37-21 record on the campaign. UCF earned a pair of wins at the 2024 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, triumphing in a thrilling 8-7 contest against Alabama as well as topping long-time foe Stetson 5-2.
