Men's Tennis Tabbed ITA All-Academic Team, Two Knights Named Scholar Athletes

by Alex Clough

ORLANDO - While the Knights' performance on the court made for a memorable inaugural campaign in the Big 12, head coach Lloyd Bruce-Burgess and assistant Kareem Allaf have stressed the importance of prowess in the classroom as well.

Announced Monday afternoon, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association has named UCF men's tennis as an All-Academic Team, while two athletes garnered individual honors as scholar-athletes.

The ITA honors programs with at least a 3.2 team GPA throughout the 2023-24 academic year; a strong feat as student-athletes across the nation balance their athletic and academic progress.

A pair of Knights truly led by example with GPAs above 3.5, as Mehdi Benchakroun and Liam Branger led the charge with excellent displays during their second years in Orlando.
