ORLANDO Tanner Polo has been hired as boathouse manager ahead of the 2024-25 season, UCF rowing head coach Mara Allen announced Tuesday afternoon.

Polo joins the Knights after four years as a boatman and warehouse technician for WinTech and King Racing, where he focused on boat repairs and transporting boats to events.

“Tanner is an excellent addition to the staff,” Allen said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, a fantastic work ethic and great character. I’m very excited for what he can contribute to our program.”

From 2018-19, Polo was an assistant coach for RowAmerica Greenwich, a club based in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he focused on leading workouts and maintaining launch boats

In high school, Polo was a member of the Norwalk River Rowing Club’s Men’s Lightweight Four and made it to the 2017 US Rowing Youth National Championships. The crew finished fourth overall.

“I can’t wait to get started at UCF,” Polo said. “I’m looking forward to supporting Mara and the rest of the staff in every way I can, and I look forward to bringing my skills to give our student-athletes every edge I can.”

Polo is a native of Stamford, Connecticut.
