ORLANDO – As part of the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend Draft, the UCF women’s tennis team has selected to travel to Los Angeles for the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Knights will face No. 9 UCLA on the opening day of the event, and either No. 29 Washington or No. 45 Columbia the following day. The Los Angeles site will be hosted by UCLA at the Los Angeles Tennis Center from January 24-27, 2025.
The ITA Kickoff Weekend Draft is a unique opportunity, allowing teams from around the country to choose which host site they would prefer to play at during the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend. With many factors taken into consideration (travel, opponent, etc.), the Kickoff Weekend draft is always an exciting event that gives coaches the power to choose where their team plays. With the 14 host sites already determined based on 2024 year-end rankings, the remaining teams were able to choose where they want to play based on year-end finish starting with the No. 15 ranked team and running until all the spots are filled.
UCF, UCLA, Washington and Columbia will battle it out for the opportunity to compete in the ITA National Indoor Championship. The Black and Gold earned the 48th pick in the draft following its inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference and selected the fourth seed at UCLA.
More of the 2024-25 UCF women’s tennis schedule is set to be released later this summer.
