Smith, Sisutham Lead Knights in Bermuda Run Regional

BERMUDA RUN, N.C. – The duo of Molly Smith and Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham led the UCF women’s golf team with both scoring under par on day one of the Bermuda Run Regional on Monday. 

The Knights recorded a 293 (+5) and are tied for 7th place with North Texas and eight strokes from Texas and Oregon State tied for 5th place.

Smith highlighted the opening round with a birdie putt on hole No. 10 to start the day off. Besides a double bogey on hole No. 8, the freshman was bogey-free through 16 holes. The Massachusetts native finished her first round of NCAA regionals with a three-under 69 to finish T4.

Sisutham bounced back from an early double on her third hole and was bogey-free over the next seven holes with three birdies. She made the turn with a birdie on hole No. 1 and accounted for a total of four birdies on the day to score a 70 (-2). The sophomore is tied for 14th place after round one. 

 Brittany Shin got off to a slow start tallying three bogeys on the first nine but turned it around on the front nine carding a birdie on hole No. 7. The Florida native polished off round one in T43 with a 76 (+4). 

Rounding out the lineup is Jess Baker and Katie Poots in T58 with each carding a 78 (+6). 

UCF is scheduled to tee off round two tomorrow at 8:55 a.m. paired with North Texas and South Florida.
