Softball falls in series-opener to Iowa State, 9-0

AMES, Iowa – As the squad embarks on its final series of the 2024 regular season, the UCF softball team dropped the opener of its three-game set to the Iowa State Cyclones, 9-0 in five innings, at Cyclone Sports Complex Friday evening.

UCF was held to one hit in the defeat, a first-inning single by catcher Jada Cody. With her two-out knock, Cody has now hit safely in four of her last five games, hitting .375 (6-for-16) with two multi-hit games, one run scored and one RBI in that span.

Iowa State struck for one run in both the bottom of the first and second innings before clinching its run-rule win with two more in the third and a five-run fifth inning.

UP NEXT

The Knights look to even the series in game two Saturday afternoon, with first pitch slated for 2 p.m. ET from Cyclone Sports Complex.
