by James Warnick

ORLANDO – After claiming its fourth consecutive Big 12 Conference series by taking two of three from Kansas State over the weekend, the UCF baseball team has moved up in the national rankings and is ranked as high as No. 16 in the Week Eight Top 25 National Polls.

The Knights have entered the national rankings in all five major college baseball polls this week and are ranked 16th by the NCBWA. D1Baseball and Perfect Game have tabbed UCF 17th, while Baseball America and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll have the Black and Gold currently ranked 19th.

The Knights currently hold a 21-8 overall record and an 8-7 Big 12 Conference mark under first-year head coach Rich Wallace. The Black and Gold entered the Baseball America, ESPN/USA Today Coaches and NCBWA polls for the first time on the season this week and moved up three spots on this week’s Perfect Game poll and eight positions on this week’s D1Baseball poll.

The No. 16 national ranking marks the highest that UCF has been ranked since March 9, 2020, when it was ranked 12th nationally by D1Baseball, Collegiate Baseball, and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Knights entered the national rankings for the first time on the 2024 season last week. Currently in the RPI, the Black and Gold lead all Big 12 institutions with the nation’s seventh-best Rating Percentage Index.

UCF, who has won eight of its last 10 ballgames, will hit the road this week for a midweek contest at Stetson on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., before heading to the Mountain State for a three-game league series at West Virginia Friday to Sunday.
