AUGUSTA, Ga. – The first 36 holes of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational are in the books, as UCF is ninth following the first two rounds with a team score of 592 (+16) in Saturday afternoon’s action at the Forest Hills Golf Club.
In a stacked field of ranked opponents, the Knights are ahead of No. 26 Mississippi State (597, +21) and just behind several others with eight teams among the latest top 50 Scoreboard Rankings powered by Clippd.
UCF recorded a five-over-par 293 in the first round and finished the second round with a 299 (+11).
No. 1 North Carolina leads the field at -16 (560), while Augusta and No. 18 Texas are tied for second with a 570 (-6).
Freshman Hans Risvaer and sophomore Chase Haygood paced the Black and Gold, each with a three-over-par 147 through the first two rounds to tie for 32nd. Risvaer had a great first round, firing a 71 (-1) with a birdie and was one of just five players to record an eagle on the day. His third shot on hole No. 11, a par five, bounced on the green and rolled in for his third career eagle.
Haygood was three over in the first round but put together a strong second round with an even par 72 thanks to four birdies.
Senior Egor Eroshenko is one stroke shy of the duo at four over (148) to tie for 39th. He shot a 72 (E) in the first round and a 76 (+4) in the second round. Eroshenko had three birdies in each round and had a bogey free back nine in the opening round.
Cooper Tate and Gustav Andersson are both 13 over (157) after the first day of the invitational. Tate carded an 82 and a 75, while Andersson logged the reverse with a 75 in the first round and an 82 in the second round.
The Knights return to action starting at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning with split tee times from hole No. 1.
