Eroshenko Leads UCF on First Day of Men’s Golf Big 12 Championship

TRINITY, Texas – The first two rounds of the 2024 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship are in the books, as senior Egor Eroshenko led UCF with a three-over-par 147 to tie for 28th on the player leaderboard. As a team, the Knights are 13th (+22) following the first day of action at the Whispering Pines Golf Club.

On a challenging course located nearly 90 minutes from Houston, Eroshenko turned in a great second rounds after a tough first round to rank among the top 30 on the player leaderboard. He shot a 78 (+6) in the opening round, but bounced back with a 69 (-3) in the second round thanks to seven birdies. Eroshenko was three under at the turn in the second round and even on the back nine.

His stellar second round helped him leap 29 spots on the player leaderboard from the conclusion of the first round.

Making its Big 12 Championship debut, UCF had a tough start but the Black and Gold were one of just three teams under par in the second round with a 287 (-1) as a team.

BYU leads the field at one under par (575), while Texas is second at even par (576) and Oklahoma State is three over (579) for third place.

Chase Haygood also turned in a solid first day, recording a five over (149) to tie for 39th. He carded a 76 (+4) in the first round and a 73 (+1) in the second. The Daytona Beach, Florida, native had a bogey free front nine in the second round and was two under at the turn before a couple bogeys on the back nine to finish one over in round two.

Freshman Hans Risvaer was the third Knight among the top 50, tying for 44th with a 150 (+6). Similar to his teammates, he had a tough first round with a 78 (+6) but countered in the second round with an even par 72. He birdied four of his first six holes in round two, improving 13 spots from his placement after the opening round.

Gustav Andersson tallied an eight-over-par 152 and Cooper Tate rounded out the lineup for the Knights with a 156 (+12). Following a difficult opening round with a 79 (+7), Andersson shot a 73 (+1) in the second round with five birdies. Tate had a 79 (+7) and a 77 (+5).

The Knights will tee off at 10:10 a.m. ET Tuesday morning for round three of the Big 12 Championship. The team with the lowest 72-hole score along with the top individual will be crowned champions. The team champion and the All-Tournament team will be recognized. The team will consist of the top 10 individual finishers which include any ties.
