MOBILE, Ala. – Headlined by two student-athletes among the top 10 on the player leaderboard, the UCF men’s golf team is tied for sixth following the first day of action at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The Knights fired a 292 (+8) Sunday afternoon at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course.

The Black and Gold were even following the front nine holes, but a tough back nine pushed UCF’s first-round score to eight over.

After winning the individual title last weekend at the ECU Intercollegiate, Hans Risvaer continued to play some of his best golf as the freshman carded a two-under-par 69 Sunday to tie for third on the player leaderboard. He was two under with birdies on No. 6 and 9 on the front nine, then birdied hole 14. Risvaer had a bogey-free front nine and only one bogey on the day.

Senior Egor Eroshenko was also under par for the Knights, recording a 70 (-1) thanks to a pair of birdies and a bogey-free front nine. He dropped in birdie putts on No. 6 and No. 11, with his lone bogey of the day on No. 15. Eroshenko is tied for ninth following Sunday’s action.

Gustav Andersson logged a 76 (+5) with three birdies and was one under heading to the back nine before having difficulty on holes 10 through 18. Chase Haygood and Cooper Tate each fired a 77 (+6). Both student-athletes notched one birdie with the former on No. 10 and the latter on No. 17, respectively.

Competing as an individual, freshman Garret Ebbert turned in a four-over-par 75 and is tied for 45th on the player leaderboard. He birdied No. 7 and No. 18.

UCF will begin round two at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Monday morning with the first tee time slated for 8:20 a.m. from hole No. 1.
