GREENVILLE, N.C. – It’s not how you start, but how you finish.

UCF men’s golfer Hans Risvaer embodied that philosophy at the ECU Intercollegiate this week, putting together a strong finish Tuesday afternoon to earn his first collegiate individual title with a three-under-par 213 at the Brook Valley Country Club. After shooting a 75 (+3) in the opening round, the freshman jumped 20 spots on the player leaderboard from the end of the first round to overtake East Carolina’s Drew O’Neal (-2, 214) by one stroke to earn the individual championship.

Risvaer and O’Neal were the only two players to finish the tournament under par. Risvaer shot a 69 (-3) in each of the final two rounds, headlined by five birdies in Tuesday's round and 10 in the tournament. He was three under on the front nine and even on the back nine, dropping in a par putt on hole 18 to seal the win.

Champion

As a team, UCF placed second with an 881 (+17) to record its best finish of the season and just two strokes shy of East Carolina (+15).

Senior Egor Eroshenko carded a one-over-par 217 to claim fifth place, thanks to a 69 (-3) with four birdies, a bogey-free front nine and only bogey in Tuesday’s final round. He leaped 10 spots on the player leaderboard from the conclusion of Monday’s action to earn his first top-five finish of the season.

Chase Haygood, a sophomore from Daytona Beach, Florida, shot a 223 (+7) to tie for 16th, as three Knights ended the tournament among the top 16, one of only two schools to claim the distinction. Haygood logged a 75 (+3) in the final round with a birdie on No. 6.

Gustav Andersson had his best round of the week on Tuesday with a 74 (+2) to finish tied for 31st with a 228 (+12). He was even on the front nine with three birdies and was two over on the back nine. Freshman Garret Ebbert rounded out the lineup for the Black and Gold by notching an 82 in the last round to finish with a 239 for the tournament.

Marc Keller competed as an individual and shot an 80 Tuesday afternoon and compiled a 249 in the ECU Intercollegiate.

UCF will return to action at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate next week hosted by South Alabama at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club. The competition is set to take place Sunday, March 24 through Tuesday, March 26.
