Women's Golf Finishes in Fourth Place At Briar's Creek

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A Duo of Knights placed in the top-10 to propel the UCF women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish in the Briar’s Creek Invitational at Briar’s Creek Country Club hosted by Charleston. 


The Black and Gold held steady throughout the third round to tie for fourth place with Illinois featuring a final score of 873 (+9). 


Jess Baker put together a stellar performance to move up nine spots in the player leaderboard for a sixth-place finish (213, -3). The senior carded a 68 (-4) as she started out the back nine with back-to-back birdies. The Newcastle, England, native notched a bogey-free round. 


Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham recorded a 73 (+1) in the final round of the tournament. The sophomore finished just two strokes behind Baker to tie for seventh place with a score of 215 (-1). 


Molly Smith finished round three with a 76 (+4) for a three-day score of 221 (+5) and a T29 finish. 


Brittany Shin put together her best score of the tournament, a two-over 74 to wrap up the tournament with a 228 (+12) and tied for 58th place. 


Katie Poots started the day off with a bogey and finished with a 76 (+4). The freshman tallied up a 54-hole score of 230 (+14). 


Camille Banzet, competing as an individual, recorded a 74 (+2) in the final round to finish T67. The Senior put together a 229 (+13) in the two-day tournament. 


Baker and Banzet each recorded a team-high nine birdies over the two days of the tournament. 


The Knights will head to Texas for the Texas Showdown at the Dallas Athletic Club from Sunday, April 7 through Monday, April 8. The Texas Showdown will feature match play between Baylor, SMU and UCF.
