Poots Finishes Sixth to Lead Knights at Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. – UCF freshman Katie Poots fired a three-under-par 213 en route to recording a top-10 finish to lead the Knights at the Moon Golf Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. 

Poots led the way for UCF for the first time in her young collegiate career by finishing sixth with a three-under-par at the three-day tournament. She recorded scores of 71, 73 and 69. She also paced the squad at the event with 11 birdies, including four during Tuesday’s final round.

As a team, the Knights placed 16th with a 31-over-par 895 (298, 303, 294). LSU won the event for the second consecutive year with a 14-under-par 850, while Auburn placed second (+2) and Northwestern took third (+5).

Behind Poots’ sixth-place finish, senior Jess Baker was next for UCF by tying for 59th with a nine-over-par 225 (76-75-74). Sophomore Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham ended the three-day tournament tied for 62nd place, carding a 226 (+10) in the three-day tournament.

Senior Camille Banzet rounded out UCF’s field at the event with an 18-over-par 234 (76-81-77).

The Knights will head to Gainesville, Florida, for the Gators Invitational on March 2 and 3.
