MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Knights opened the Moon Golf Invitational Saturday at Suntree Country Club with a score of 298 (+10).
Katie Poots led the lineup with a 70 (-1) to tie for 14th place on the player leaderboard. Poots had the highest number of birdies on the team, notching two on the front nine and two more on the back nine.
Molly Smith also picked up two birdies in the first nine holes. Smith finished out the day with a score of 75 (+3).
Jess Baker and Camille Banzet each recorded one birdie, both on hole No. 3. The two rounded out the day with a score of 76 (+4).
Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham ended the day with a score of 76 (+4). She picked up a birdie on the first hole.
The Knights wrapped up round one in 17th place in a stacked field with 12 teams ranked in the top 25.
Due to inclement weather, the teams will take Sunday off and tee off for the second round of the tournament Monday, Feb. 19.
