ORLANDO – Ahead of its first season of competition in the Big 12 Conference, UCF baseball has announced its team captains for the 2024 campaign.
As voted by the team, first-year head coach Rich Wallace has announced that senior pitchers Kyle Kramer and Najer Victor will be captains for the Knights this season, as well as senior infielder Andrew Brait and senior outfielder Jack Zyska.
“We’re thrilled with who the team has chosen as our captains this season. All four are tremendous seniors for us and will be able to lead in different ways and facets of the game,” Wallace said. “I know each one of them will do a great job of helping lead our team on and off the field.”
The four senior captains will bring a combined total of 17 prior seasons of collegiate experience to the mix, as both Kramer and Zyska have previously played five seasons apiece, Brait four years, and Victor three. Zyska, who played his former five seasons at Notre Dame, also holds numerous seasons of NCAA postseason experience under his belt.
With Opening Knight set for Feb. 16 at John Euliano Park vs. Bryant, the Black & Gold will officially open practice this afternoon in preparation for the season. The squad will also hold a trio of intrasquad scrimmages this weekend at John Euliano Park that will be open to the public on Friday 6:10 p.m., Saturday at 6:10 p.m., and Sunday at 11:05 a.m.
