ORLANDO – Following the announcement of the ANNIKA Award Final Fall Watch List, UCF freshman women’s golfer Molly Smith was also named the Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month (October) on Thursday.
Smith landed in the top-15 throughout the four tournaments this fall.
In the third tournament, Smith, finished in first place at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate. She started the tournament with a five-under-par 66 in the first round. Smith’s turned in an impressive performance in round three with five consecutive birdies on the back nine to end the round with a 65 and final score of 201 (-12). Over the three rounds of the tournament, she led the field with 15 birdies.
To start off the month of October, the Massachusetts native, finished tied for 11th place at the Evie Odom Invitational where the Knights turned in a first-place finish. Smith rounded out the tournament with a 209 (-1).
In the final fall tournament, Smith carded a 212 (-4) to finish tied for 13th place in the Landfall Tradition.
The award marks the first Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month honor as the Knights moved to the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2023.
