ORLANDO – The UCF men’s basketball team has announced the additions of Kyle Greene and Cameron Simpson on National Signing Day. Both will join the team for the 2024-25 campaign.
K.J. Greene | Guard | 6-3 | Blythewood, S.C. | Pace Academy
Kyle, who goes by K.J., comes to UCF as a four-star recruit and is the third-highest ranked signee in program history with a .9603 mark according to 247Sports Composite rankings. ESPN ranked Greene the highest of the four major prospect sources, checking in at No. 74 nationally, No. 17 amongst point guards and No. 4 in the state of Georgia. On3 has him ranked the highest in his position, sitting at No. 11.
Greene hails from Blythewood, South Carolina, and is playing at Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He posted impressive numbers during his junior season, recording 11.6 points, 6.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game. He helped his team win the 2022-23 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 4A state championship and was named to the GSHA 4A First Team.
"We’re very excited to welcome K.J. Greene into our program," said UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins. "K.J. is one of the best leaders and point guards in the country and has a winning pedigree coming from Pace Academy. He is highly skilled and embodies the intangibles we value in our program. We expect KJ to be a great leader for us."
Cameron Simpson | Guard | 6-7 | Orlando, Fla. | Oak Ridge
Simpson has tallied a trio of impressive seasons to this point in his high school career. He averaged 16.9 points per contest his freshman year at East River in Orlando and followed that with 12.8 points per game on 42% shooting in his sophomore campaign at Central Florida Christian Academy in Ocoee, Florida. His junior season with Oak Ridge in 2022-23 saw him average 12.8 points per game once again, this time with a 49% clip from the three-point line.
Simpson is not the first player that UCF has recruited from Oak Ridge, which is about a half hour drive from Addition Financial Arena. C.J. Walker and Antwann Jones, currently rostered with the Knights, are also Oak Ridge alumni.
"We are very excited to have Cameron join our family here at UCF," said Dawkins. "We have watched him closely in Orlando these last couple of years and have really enjoyed getting to know him and his family. Cam has developed into a high level wing and one of the best pure shooters in the country. We have no doubt he will be terrific as a Knight."
