ORLANDO – Hours before its Oct. 31 regular-season finale against James Madison, the UCF men’s soccer team retained its No. 1 national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches’ week 10 poll released Tuesday afternoon, garnering all eight first-place votes after receiving seven of eight in the organization’s week nine rankings.
The latest ranking represents the second consecutive week the Knights have been pegged the top team in the nation, and represents the eighth straight week with a top five national ranking, as well as the 10th consecutive week with a top 15 spot in the organization’s poll.
The Knights enter their Tuesday evening matchup with a one-point lead in the Sun Belt table over second-place No. 4 Marshall, 19 points to 18, and can clinch the conference regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a win over the Dukes.
Marshall, now ranked No. 4, jumped two spots from its No. 6 ranking in last week’s poll, and West Virginia fell to No. 7 after suffering a 1-0 loss at Kentucky Oct. 27. Rounding out the Knights’ 2023 opponents to be represented in the latest poll, Clemson was slotted in at No. 14 and FIU jumped one spot to No. 23.
