WACO, Texas – No. 24 UCF volleyball came up short against No. 21 Baylor on Sunday afternoon. The Bears defeated the Knights 3-0 (18-25, 17-25, 17-25), in the Ferrell Center.
The Knights (16-4, 7-2) and the Bears (12-7, 6-3) tied with 37 digs each. Baylor won the statistical match with 44 kills, 13 blocks and four service aces. Emily Wilson recorded a match-high 16 kills and added seven digs. Lauren Clark tallied 12 kills and one block. Chloe Scheer paced the defense with 11 digs.
Baylor jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first set and held onto the lead to earn the set win, 25-18. The Bears recorded a .310 attacking percentage with 12 kills.
The Knights knotted the score at four with a block from Clark and Abby Hansen. The Bears quickly answered with a 5-1 spurt, 9-5. Baylor continued to pace its way through the set as they went on a 7-3 run to polish off the second set, 25-17.
The Knights and Bears battled back and forth until an 8-8 deadlock when Baylor sparked a 3-0 rally to give them the lead. A kill from Clark sparked a 3-0 run but the Bears quickly answered back with a 7-1 run to end the match, 25-17.
UCF will head back to Orlando for a two-match homestand against TCU on Thursday, Oct. 26 and Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
