SAUCIER, Miss. – Competing against some of the nation's top teams, the UCF men’s golf team fired a team score of 296 (+8) in the first round of play at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational held at the Fallen Oak Golf Course.
The Knights sit in 10th place following the first 18 holes with the second and final rounds slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Egor Eroshenko headlined UCF’s showing in the opening round, as the senior fired a one-under-par 71 to tie for 12th on the player leaderboard. Eroshenko tallied five birdies on the day, including three on the front nine in a bogey-free showing. Gustav Andersson also turned in a strong performance for the Knights, tying for 19th at even par. He was one over on the back nine and one under on the front nine, highlighted by five birdies.
Nicholas Estrada carded a three over to tie for 44th on the player leaderboard thanks to a birdie on hole No. 3 and No. 6. Freshman Hans Risvaer recorded a 78 (+6), dropping in a birdie putt on hole No. 1, while classmate Garret Ebbert was seven over with birdies on a pair of par threes (holes 14 and 17). Chase Haygood competed as an individual and fired a 79 (+7).
No. 10 Mississippi State leads the field with a 276 (-12), while Auburn and Ole Miss round out the top three with a 282 (-6) and 289 (+1), respectively.
UCF will tee off in the second round of the invitational starting at 11:40 a.m. ET/10:40 a.m. CT from hole No. 10.
