Men's Soccer Climbs to No. 6 National Ranking

by Ryan Ladika

ORLANDO – Hours before the UCF men’s soccer team’s Tuesday evening matchup, the national United Soccer Coaches week two rankings were finalized, a poll that saw the UCF men’s soccer team climb to No. 6 in the country.

The ranking marks the second-highest in the program’s history after the Knights earned a No. 5 spot in the Nov. 12, 2019 release of the poll, when the Knights recorded an eventual 16-match unbeaten streak from Sept. 1 through Nov. 13 that season.

UCF (3-0-0) earned its current ranking after emerging victorious in each of its first three matches this fall, besting then-No. 9 Clemson 2-1 on the road in its season-opener before returning to Orlando and topping Stetson and NC State by 2-1 and 3-1 final scores, respectively.

Five of the Knights’ 2023 opponents were included in the latest iteration of the poll, including Marshall (No. 2), James Madison (No. 8), UCF’s Tuesday opponent Florida International (No. 11), West Virginia (No. 16) and Kentucky (No. 19).

UCF’s top-10 United Soccer Coaches ranking accompanies top-20 marks by both College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer as well, as the two polls slot the Knights No. 8 and No. 17 in the nation, respectively.
