ORLANDO-The UCF men’s tennis team has released their inaugural Big 12 schedule for the 2023 fall season. The schedule extends from Sept. 22 - Nov. 19 and play is highlighted by two home collegiate tournaments as well as seven professional events.
The Knights will begin their season at home as they host the Bedford Cup from Sept. 22- Sept. 24. This is the first time the Black and Gold will be hosts of the cup since the 2018 fall season where former Knight, Alan Rubio, won the main flight single title.
UCF will head on the road as they travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the ITA All-American Championships from Sept. 30- Oct. 8. Depending on individual performances at the All-Americans, any Knight who qualifies for the ITA National Championships will be eligible to travel to the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California from Nov. 1-5.
The Knights will then head home to host the Fall Sizzler, their second home tournament of the season, from Oct. 6-8. Last year’s tournament reigned victorious for the team as Bogdan Pavel and Mehdi Benchakroun were both crowned champs in their respective singles.
UCF will wrap up their collegiate slate with a trip to Atlanta, Ga. to participate in the ITA Regionals hosted by Georgia Tech from Oct. 12-16. Last year’s regional concluded with three Knights wins in the main singles draw.
The Black and Gold have five International Tennis Federation and two ATP events listed on their schedule. They include potential stops in Upstate New York, California, Florida, Texas and South Carolina.
