Women's Soccer Announces 2023 Non-Conference Schedule

by Logan Hasselbach

ORLANDO – The UCF women’s soccer team has unveiled its 2023 non-conference schedule, highlighted by four matches hosted at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The Knights non-conference schedule features two exhibition contests and six regular-season matches, including five in-state rivals and three opponents who made the 2022 NCAA Tournament before shifting gears into conference play.

The two exhibition matches will feature familiar in-state rivals. UCF will look to continue its success against Miami when it travels to Coral Gables, Florida, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. for the first exhibition contest of the season. The Knights will head back to Orlando for one final exhibition to host Florida State on Aug. 11 at 2 p.m., the first time since 2012 that the two schools will face off at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The 2023 regular season will open on a two-match road trip, as UCF travels to Purdue for its first match in West Lafayette, Indiana, since 1999 on Aug. 17. Heading south, the Black and Gold will face Georgia in Athens on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.

The Knights will have a short stint at home as they host their home opener on Aug. 27 when North Florida comes to town at 6 p.m. A quick road trip to Happy Valley to face Penn State on Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. will round out the opening month of play for the squad.

The final homestand of the non-conference schedule sees two in-state opponents visit Orlando. The Knights will take on Florida Atlantic on Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. for their first regular-season matchup in nine years. The first non-conference matchup with USF since 2012 will take place on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. when the Bulls come to town for the final match before conference play starts.

BIG 12 SCHEDULE

The first Big 12 Conference match in program history will be played at home, when the Knights host defending Big 12 champion West Virginia for the conference opener on Sept. 14.

UCF will then find itself on a quick road trip out west when it travels to take on Houston on Sept. 21, before heading back home to host Kansas on Sept. 24.

The Knights will journey to Oklahoma for a two-match road swing. UCF heads to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State on Sept. 28, then closes out the road swing in Norman versus Oklahoma on Oct. 1.

For the last home stand of the season, the Black and Gold will host three teams who call Texas home, starting off with Texas on Oct. 5. The Knights will host Baylor three days later and Texas Tech shortly after on Oct. 8 and 12, respectively.

The squad will close the regular season on the road, traveling first to familiar foe Cincinnati on Oct. 10. A trip to Provo, Utah, on Oct. 23 will round out the campaign for the Knights, going head-to-head with BYU in the regular-season finale.
