UCF All-American Ben McCabe enters the next chapter of his decorated baseball career, as he was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the ninth round of the 2023 MLB Draft with pick No. 262.
McCabe becomes the 46th Knight selected among the first 10 rounds of the MLB Draft and the 130th pick in program history. As the seventh Knight drafted by the Colorado Rockies, he joins former UCF teammate and current Rockies prospect Connor Staine in the Colorado organization.
In his final year in the Black and Gold, McCabe was tabbed an All-American by four publications, headlined by slugging 19 home runs to set a program career record (49) and breaking multiple AAC records.
The Sarasota, Florida native paced the Knights in nine offensive categories in 2023, including batting average (.371), on-base percentage (.466), slugging percentage (.692), hits (83), runs (63), home runs (19), doubles (15), total bases (155) and hit by pitch (23).
Over his five seasons as a Knight, the catcher landed in the top 10 in nine career categories, five single-season categories, tied the record for most single-game home runs and set records in both single-season and career hit by pitch in the American Conference.
McCabe etches his name into the UCF history books once again, adding another line to his storied resume.
