Men's Hoops Inks Transfer Jaylin Sellers

ORLANDOJaylin Sellers, a 2022 MAC All-Freshman Team honoree and Ball State's three-point percentage leader during the 2022-23 season, has signed with the UCF men's basketball team as of Friday afternoon, head coach Johnny Dawkins has announced.

"Jaylin is a versatile perimeter player who competes at a high level," said Coach Dawkins. "He is a knockdown three-point shooter and is good on the defensive side on the ball. We're thrilled to have him join our team."

Sellers, a rising junior, recorded a 45% clip from behind the three-point arc in his sophomore campaign with the Cardinals, sinking 54 shots on 120 attempts. Overall, he shot 49% from the field, going 144-for-294, attempting the second highest number of shots on the team. Sellers was the second-highest scorer on the team, averaging 13.5 points per contest and pulling in nearly four boards a game. He tallied a career-high 24 points against Illinois State in mid-December and collected an impressive 14 rebounds earlier in the season, also a career high.

In all, Sellers knocked down double-digit points in 23 contests, sinking 10 or more points in 12 of his final 14 games of the campaign. He scored 20 or more points in six contests. He recorded a pair of double-doubles, knocking down 18 points and collecting his career-high 14 rebounds on Nov. 19 against Indiana South Bend before scoring 15 points and snatching 11 rebounds on Jan. 3 at Toledo.

The six-foot-four guard saw action in all but one of Ball State's 32 games and started in 30 contests. He chalked up 26 assists, 21 steals and 16 blocks over that span.
Sellers earned MAC All-Freshman Team honors in 2022 after appearing in all 31 games, including five starts. He played in 586 minutes in his rookie season prior to playing 925 minutes the following year. His freshman campaign saw him snatch 24 steals while averaging 6.7 points per game.

Sellers was a two-time all-state honoree in his home state of Georgia before going to Carver Montgomery High School.

Sellers is the fourth addition via the transfer portal ahead of UCF's first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Knights have announced the additions of forward Omar Payne from Jacksonville, guard Shemarri Allen from UMKC and guard Jaykwon Walton from Wichita State earlier this month. The four transfers join incoming freshman guard Comeh Emuobor.
