ORLANDO - The Knights are gearing up for their fourth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, as the UCF women's golf team heads south for the Palm Beach Gardens regional hosted by Florida Atlantic at PGA National Resort.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will tee off on Monday, May 8 and wrap up on Wednesday, May 10. There are 12 teams competing in the Palm Beach Gardens regional, with the top-five teams advancing to the NCAA National Championship. The top individual not on an advancing team will also move on to the NCAA National Championship, which takes place May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Overall, a total of 72 teams and 36 individuals will be participating in six regional competitions around the nation throughout the week.
In Palm Beach Gardens, the Knights, who are the No. 4 seed in the regional, will be playing on PGA's par-72 golf course, which measures 6,312 yards. The Black and Gold will tee off on hole 10 beginning at 8 a.m. Monday morning along with Duke and Michigan State.
The full field of competition the Knights will take on in the regional includes No. 3 LSU, No. 10 Texas, No. 15 Northwestern, No. 28 Duke, No. 34 Michigan State, No. 39 California, No. 45 Arkansas, No. 49 Alabama, South Florida, Penn and Quinnipiac. Six individuals from programs that were not selected as a team, will also be competing at the Palm Beach Gardens regional.
UCF's lineup will feature Jess Baker, Anna Nordfors, Tunrada Piddon, Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisutham and Zoe Allaux.
This will be UCF's 17th regional appearance and the ninth in the last 12 seasons. Since head coach Emily Marron took over the program ahead of the 2012-13 season, the Knights have either qualified as a team or sent an individual to every NCAA regional. Last Wednesday's selection marked the fourth straight time the Knights have made an NCAA regional as a team (excluding the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season).
After finishing second at the conference championship, the Knights secured their seventh top-five finish of the season.
Last season, Marron's squad made it to the NCAA regional championship in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where the Knights finished in 11th place. In 11 years as UCF's head coach, Marron has led the Knights to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, two conference championships and has twice been named AAC Coach of the Year.
