ORLANDO - The UCF women's golf team and head coach Emily Marron secured a big addition to the class of 2023-24 on Wednesday, as the team announced the signing of Brittany Shin to the squad.
Shin comes to UCF from Oregon, where she was a member of the Ducks' golf team for her junior and senior seasons. Prior to Oregon, she was a part of the golf team at Cal State Fullerton.
In 2021, Shin was named the Big West Golfer of the Year after leading Cal State Fullerton with a 73.80 scoring average in six team tournaments. Along with claiming individual medalist honors in two tournaments, she matched her career best at the Wyoming Girl Classic with a five-under-par.
"We are really excited to add Brittany to our team next season," said Coach Marron. "I think she will feel right at home here at UCF and in Florida where she has played some of her best golf! Being a 5th year, Brittany will bring the experience we need in our lineup next season to continue to compete nationally."
In her senior season in 2022-23, she recorded her first top-10 finish as an Oregon Duck at the East Lake Cup shooting just one-over in stroke play to finish tied for ninth.
During her first season with Oregon, she notched a 75.33 scoring average after competing in three tournaments throughout the fall. In the spring, she helped lead the Ducks to their second team victory of the season while recording her first eagle of her collegiate career.
Shin a Cape Coral, Florida, native joins November signees Molly Smith, Emma Baier and Katie Poots as the latest addition to the Knights' 2023-24 incoming class.
