Carrera, Travale Conclude Action at NCAA Regional

SALEM, S.C. – UCF's Luis Carrera and Johnny Travale wrapped up the season and their illustrious collegiate careers at the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Wednesday afternoon at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls Golf Course.

With only one individual from a non-advancing team earning a spot in the NCAA National Championship, Carrera and Travale attacked the challenge head on this week in Salem, South Carolina.

Carrera finished tied for 27th with a three-round score of 211 (-5), while Travale ended tied for 48th with a 215 (-1).

In Wednesday's final round, Carrera carded his best round of the week with a four-under-par 68. The UCF fifth year recorded five birdies on the day and was bogey free on the back nine. He closed out the day by birdieing hole No. 16 and No. 18.

Travale was three over on the day, following a tough back nine. The Canada native was even at the turn before concluding the day with a 75 (+3).

Despite Wednesday's third round, Travale was still one under for the week and dropped in 15 birdies.

Both players have had incredible careers with the Knights, as each has been named a unanimous American Athletic All-Conference selection during their time with UCF and will leave their marks in the program record books.

No. 11 Georgia Tech won the regional with an 811 (-53), while No. 35 Arkansas was second at 819 (-45). Second-ranked North Carolina was 43 under (821), No. 47 New Mexico carded an 822 (-42) and No. 14 Texas A&M won a playoff with Clemson to claim the final spot as both teams shot an 835 (-29).

Furman's Sam Lape is the lone individual to advance from the regional with a three-round score of 201 (-15).
