ORLANDO – After putting the finishing touches on a second straight American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in Tampa, Florida, over the weekend, the (RV) UCF softball team will make its way to Tallahassee, Florida, for regional play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
As announced by Sunday evening's selection show, the Knights will compete in the Tallahassee regional hosted by the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles. The remaining two teams joining the Knights at Florida State will be the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Marist Red Foxes.
Following the Knights' historic 2022 season that saw the program advance to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history, UCF is once again looking to make a deep postseason run in its 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and third straight since 2021.
The weekend regional represents the third time UCF will make the trip to Tallahassee for the opening round of the tournament, after also meeting the Seminoles in 2021 and 2015. The Knights also own a perfect 2-0 record in two postseason meetings all-time against their Friday opponent, South Carolina, after topping the Gamecocks by 4-1 and 5-2 final scores in the 2015 Tallahassee regional.
The Knights enter the postseason on a 13-game win streak, representing their longest of the season, and have won 21 of their last 24 games dating back to the commencement of conference play against the Wichita State Shockers March 24.
First pitch of the Knights' Friday matchup against South Carolina is slated for 7 p.m. ET from Seminole Softball Complex.
