Dayton, Ohio – Despite a strong offensive performance from Nick Romano, the Knights fell to Wright State 11-7 Wednesday night at the second of their three stops in Ohio.
Romano went 3-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and batting in three. Just a double short of the cycle, he smashed a triple to center field to notch two RBI in the third inning and blasted a two-out home run to right field in the top of the ninth inning.
To continue the home run record-breaking season, Romano's late home run was the Knights' 90th of the season, breaking the American Athletic Conference single-season record. The previous record was set by Tulane with 89 homers in their 2019 campaign.
The Knights struck first, scoring early, and building up a 5-1 lead through three innings, but a seven-run sixth inning gave the Raiders the edge in the contest.
UCF fell to 27-22 on its season and Wright State advanced to 31-18.
