Knights to Travel to Bethune Cookman for Final Road Trip

ORLANDO – The No. 36 UCF women's tennis team will head to Daytona Beach this Friday, Apr. 7 to face Bethune Cookman. The match will take place at City Island Tennis Center with the first serve at 11 a.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Two weeks ago, the Knights went up against No. 22 Georgia Tech and No. 33 Clemson and put-up tough battles, but fell short, losing 4-3 in both matches. Nandini Sharma had a standout match against Georgia Tech earning her second-ranked win. Another standout performance in the match against the Yellow Jackets came from Anique Kattenberg, gaining her first collegiate singles victory. Kattenburg paired up with Jaleesa Leslie in doubles against Clemson later that weekend, where they also earned their first victory as a duo.
 
KNIGHTS IN THE POLLS
After losses to Georgia Tech and Clemson, the Black and Gold came in at to No. 36 in the latest ITA Rankings. Marie Mattel continues to be ranked in singles, coming in at No. 39, along with doubles tandem Nandini Sharma and Stefani Webb at No. 74.
 
THE OPPONENTS
Bethune-Cookman has had a challenging season this year, with a 1-14 record. The Wildcats recently competed against Florida A&M University and fell 4-0. Loncey Elie and Diarra Thomas have proven to be strong competitors, consistently managing to battle with their opponents in singles matches. The team's lone victory came from a hard-fought 4-0 victory over conference opponent Mississippi Valley State. The Knights currently lead the all-time series over the Wildcats, 11-0.
