Carrera’s Career Best Headlines UCF’s Showing at Haskins Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Luis Carrera put together one of the best performances of his collegiate career with a 54-hole score of 204 (-12) to tie the fifth best in UCF men's golf program history and lead the Knights in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Forest Hills Golf Club.

Carrera was under par all three rounds to finish third on the individual leaderboard with his career-best score of 204 (67+68+69). The fifth year closed out his weekend with a strong showing on Sunday, as he shot a three-under-par 69 with five birdies in the final round after wrapping up the second round with seven birdies and a score of four under (68).

For the tournament, Carrera logged 19 birdies to lead all individuals in the field.

UCF finished seventh as a team with an 853 (-11) to earn a pair of ranked wins, as the Knights ended ahead of No. 19 Georgia Southern (868) and No. 47 Notre Dame (883).

Johnny Travale tied for 23rd at one under par for the three-round tournament, closing out the weekend with a 70 (-2) on Sunday. He birdied holes No. 6, 8 and 17 in the final round, tallying seven total in the event.

Markus Braadlie was one over for the invitational with a 217, after firing an even par 72 in the last round on Sunday and a 70 (-2) in the second round. He carded six birdies and an eagle in the tournament.

Egor Eroshenko was only a few spots shy with a 219 thanks to his best round of the weekend on Sunday with a two-under-par 70 in the third round. He dropped in six birdies in the last round, highlighted by four on the back nine and consecutive birdies on No. 16 and 17.

Braadlie finished tied for 31st, while Eroshenko was tied for 36th.

Chase Haygood rounded out the lineup for the Black and Gold, recording a 225 (+9). The freshman closed out the invitational strong, as his even par 72 on Sunday was his best of the weekend. He dropped in a birdie and only had one bogey in the final round.

The UCF men's golf team will now have a few weeks to prepare for the American Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held April 21-23 at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
