Track & Field Off to Great Start at East Coast Relays

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The UCF track and field team got off to a great start on day one of the East Coast Relays at the University of North Florida. Highlighted by the distance squad, led by yet another incredible Mariana Rodriguez performance, the Knights yet again set multiple personal bests along with new all-time marks.

The aforementioned Rodriguez has now set a new best in four consecutive races as tonight, the junior finished fifth with her time of 4:26.94, the program's fourth-best all-time performance. She was followed by Kendall Hughes who too is finding her stride at just the right time, as the freshman ran the program's eighth best time with her 4:33.10 outing.

The lone sprint event of the night saw Daija Lampkin show out in the 200-meter dash with her fourth-place finish and 23.39 time. In the 400-meter hurdles, Alicia Coleman ran a season-best with her time of 1:01.43, taking ninth in the event.

Leiya Green is now tied for tenth in program history after her 6.05m (19-10.25) performance in the long jump as she finished third in the event.
